Well...I mean my first wedding photography shoot. Saturday July 21st I took photos of my friends' Leslie and Emery's wedding. I was extremely nervous to say the least, but I think the photographs came out beautifully. The week before I had picked up a new lens the 24-105 f/4L IS and it definitely was a life saver that's for sure. After I go through the photos with Leslie and Emery, I should have some to post in my gallery section here. Next Saturday I will also get a chance to help my high school photography teacher Flo with her daughter's wedding. I am quite honored and excited to see how it goes.
In other news I just found out today that the local camera repair shop Focal Point and the local professional photography-processing lab Accucolor have both closed. Needless to say, it is quite the loss. It has been quite awhile since I have updated my website so a lot has happened since then. This past April mom and I adopted the cutest little pupperoos ever! They were born on March 1st and we have had them since April 7th. They are both female Shiba Inus. We have a black and tan one named Miyako, Miko for short, and a cream one named Masami, Sami for short. They are quite the handful. If you'd like to see photos of the girls see Judy Whitton's Pbase Gallery
Well I think that is it for now. Keep an eye out for more updates!

That's right Miko and Sami graduated from their 8 week puppy training class today! They have come a long way from where they started. It's been a challenging 8 weeks but very rewarding. In 3 weeks, they will start the 8 week long intermediate class and we hope in the future they can get into agility, get the canine good citizen certificate, and have the chance to become therapy dogs. Mom and I have high hopes for them but we are sure that all together we can accomplish this.
So far they have learned sit, sit+stay, down, down+stay, watch me, drop it, leave it, take it, go get it, bring it here, shake, loose leash walking, come, and up. We are going to continue working with these commands in addition to crawl and roll over which they started to learn today to make sure they aren't rusty for when they go back to school.
They wore their bandanas to class and had their pictures taken with a little graduation cap and tassel. Here's some photos of the little rascals!
I finally got a new camera. I have been drooling over this camera since before it was even created...since I first heard the rumors. Keep in mind I've had the 300D since I graduated from high school, which was May of 2004. It's a wonderful camera but it's a bit slow to say the least
So what camera did I get you may ask?
The Canon 40D
As most of you who are close friends or family to me know, I have been quite busy with work and school. Much of my time has been spent on preparing and pulling it together my senior project. This project ties together many photographic elements including nature, macro, and studio photography, strobe lighting, raw editing, digital imaging, and the opportunity to really test the capabilities of my new Canon 40D. For those of you who have not heard about this project it is simply called Butterfly Flowers. Its inspiration derived from the Butterfly Clerodendrum, which is a flower from Africa that looks exactly like a butterfly. This project plays with the idea nature's use of imitation. Instead of insects imitating plant life, my creations are flowers adapting butterfly scales. The images resulting from this project will be printed in giclee stretched canvas in order to further emphasize the texture of the scales. My hopes for this project is that viewers will notice the patterns and that it will draw in their attention and desire to look closer at nature. I currently have 2 out of the 10 piece series finished and reading for printing.

In addition to my senior project, a new web design is in the works. I am currently taking a web design class and definitely learning a lot and having fun with it. It's going to take a lot of work that's for sure in order to have something that meets my quality expectations.
I have also been busy taking care of my two shiba inus Miko and Sami. They will be graduating their intermediate class tomorrow. It's all very exciting and they are doing great.
Well that will be all for now! Time to get some shut eye.
